Lost Pines Resort & Spa | Resort Sign Design
Overview
Located just outside Austin, the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa is a large, amenity-rich property designed to deliver a seamless guest experience. Like many resorts, over time, its signage became inconsistent and outdated. At the same time, new amenities were being added and spaces were being renamed, making it harder for guests to navigate and for the brand to feel cohesive.
Egan Sign partnered with the resort to bring everything back into alignment. The resort sign design focused on creating a cohesive look and feel, while the broader signage program addressed how the property functions today and how it can continue to evolve.
When Growth Outpaces the Signage System
The issues weren’t dramatic on their own, but together they added up.
- Outdated and inconsistent signage across the property
- New amenities and renamed areas that weren’t reflected onsite
- A large footprint that made wayfinding more complex for guests
- Multiple event spaces and branded areas that needed clear identification
Guests were feeling that friction, even if they couldn’t always point to why.
Resort Sign Design That Enhances the Visitor Experience
Egan started by getting as close to the guest experience as possible.
The team flew onsite for a two-day survey and walked the entire property, documenting every existing sign and how guests actually move through the space. GoPro footage and drone coverage helped capture sightlines, decision points, and the overall flow of the resort.
Back from the field, the focus shifted to building a resort sign program that felt intentional and easy to navigate.
- Designed a system that fits the resort’s natural setting and architecture
- Made wayfinding the priority for both drivers and pedestrians
- Added interactive, informative signage to help guests explore the property
- Designed removable panels to simplify future updates
- Created clear identification signage for courts, terraces, and event spaces
- Preserved individual building branding without losing overall consistency
- Updated the pool area to match the refreshed environment
- Delivered ADA-compliant interior signage for a new event building
The property sits on a flood plain, so durability was a key consideration. Because portions of the property periodically flood, certain signs may be submerged for a day or more. Egan addressed this by using a custom high-pressure laminate panel built to withstand those conditions, the same material used for signage in environments like the Amazon rainforest.
A Clearer, More Cohesive Resort Experience
The result is a signage system that feels like it belongs and works the way it should.
- Clear, intuitive navigation across the property
- A consistent look that supports the resort’s brand
- Signage that can evolve as the property continues to grow
- A better experience for both everyday guests and event visitors
Instead of piecing together fixes, the resort now has a cohesive signage program that supports the overall visitor experience from arrival to every point in between.
