Tsunami Express Car Wash | 54 Locations

Turning an Acquisition Into a Unified Brand in Three Months

Overview
When Tsunami Express Car Wash acquired 54 Whistle Express locations in September 2025, the company set an ambitious goal: transition every location around the country to the Tsunami brand by the end of the year.

That left just three months to survey sites, navigate local sign codes, develop a standardized sign package, complete layouts and approvals, manufacture signage, and coordinate installations across a large multi-location rollout.

The challenge was not simply moving quickly. Tsunami needed a program that could move at that pace while still creating a consistent brand across 54 different properties.

A Rebrand Already on the Clock
With the year-end deadline established from the start, there was little room for a traditional sequential process. Waiting for every survey, code check, and site detail to be completed before beginning design would have put the schedule at risk.

Instead, multiple parts of the program needed to move forward at the same time.

  • 54 acquired locations needed to transition to the Tsunami brand
  • Existing conditions varied from site to site
  • Local sign codes affected what could be installed
  • A consistent signage package still needed to be established
  • Design, surveying, permitting, manufacturing, and installation had to overlap to meet the deadline

Building the Program While Moving It Forward
Egan Sign and the Tsunami team quickly developed a brand book to establish a consistent approach across the newly acquired locations. That gave the rollout a repeatable foundation while still allowing individual sites to adapt to their building conditions and local requirements.

Rather than waiting for every piece of information before starting layouts, design work began immediately. Surveys and code checks followed, and layouts were updated as new site information came in.

The team also looked for ways to create a consistent brand presence across different sign types. Five-inch-deep channel letters were used on the buildings and carried over to the freestanding signs, adding dimension while creating a cohesive look across each property.

54 Locations. One Tsunami Brand.
By the end of the three-month rollout, 54 acquired locations had been transitioned to the Tsunami Express Car Wash brand.

More importantly, Tsunami came out of the acquisition with more than newly installed signage. The company had a standardized signage program that could support future locations and continued growth.

What started as an aggressive year-end rebrand became the foundation for a more consistent, repeatable approach to signage across the Tsunami portfolio.
