Mid Penn Bank Chose Egan Sign to Manage Rebrand During Location Acquisition from First Priority Bank

Gentiva Hospice

The Challenge

Gentiva is the largest provider of home health care and hospice in the USA, with 475 community locations nationwide. They have a significant schedule of new locations opening each month.

In addition to their rollout schedule, they had just purchased Odyssey HealthCare and needed to rebrand all new locations within a 12-month period. All totaled, they had 80 locations needing signage immediately.

Results

Gentiva chose Egan Sign as their sign management company because Egan could provide high-quality products and manage aggressive turnaround schedules for all these locations. By meeting and exceeding project commitments and maintaining extensive communications with Gentiva about the status of every location, Gentiva has now selected Egan Sign to manage the myriad of sign management demands that must be constantly handled by a market leader such as Gentiva.

MedExpress

The Challenge

MedExpress Urgent Care is a rapidly growing company, opening new centers across the nation each year. Given MedExpress’ rapid expansion and plans for continued growth, they required a sign management company that could effectively handle all of their signage needs.

Results

Each MedExpress location is different, so Egan designs, manufactures and installs signs that align with all branding requirements. Initially, MedExpress opted to use Egan on a trial basis along with two other sign companies to determine if they could keep up with their signage demands. Egan Sign’s responsiveness, creativity and proactive communication about project statuses made them an optimal choice for MedExpress. At the end of the trial, Egan was chosen over the other vendors.

Nikki Bowmar, a Brand Manager at MedExpress, spoke to her experience working with Egan Sign: “Together with the Egan team we are able to deliver on our vision of providing Great Care. Fast.® Exceeding patient expectations in a welcoming environment. We are adamant about ensuring consistency in branding across all of our locations and Egan is crucial in helping us to achieve this.”

We selected Egan Sign for their impeccable account management capabilities. Through weekly status calls with the Egan Sign team, we are able to ensure each project is completed in a timely fashion and meets our branding standards. Egan’s customer service is second to none. They always find a way to make what we want work so that we can continue to enhance the patient experience at our Centers

Nikki Bowmar, Brand Manager, MedExpress

NFP

The Challenge

At the time, the company had over 200 independent insurance agents in locations across the United States.  They wanted to bring them all together under one cohesive branded agency name, NFP.  Each of the locations was very different in size and structure which meant they would need different types and sizes of signs.

Results

According to our client, Egan Sign had the strongest response to their RFP and presented the best plan of action for handling all components of the rebrand initiative.  Egan Sign was selected to assist NFP with their corporate rebranding efforts. Based on the brand guidelines provided by their Marketing Department, Egan Sign developed a family of signage that guided a consistent visual appeal and appearance of their brand across rebranded locations nationwide.  In turn, Egan Sign removed existing signage and replaced it with the newly branded versions.

The types of signage utilized throughout the entire project were: frosted vinyl, digitally printed vinyl graphics, interior reception signs, pin mounted letters, acrylic signs, illuminated face replacements, ACM panels, stainless steel letters, and aluminum pan signs.  Egan Sign has rebranded approximately half of their nationwide locations to date and will continue to brand new branches added through acquisition.

I can honestly say that the Egan Sign team was always there. Every piece of the process was well managed, was understood beforehand, was expected, and was executed flawlessly.

NFP Senior Vice President of Procurement

Orscheln Farm

The Challenge

Orscheln Farm & Home did not have a Design Control Document for their signage.  Many internal stakeholders at the company were not satisfied with their signage design and the service they were receiving from their incumbent suppliers.  Throughout their growth, they had utilized many different sign vendors which resulted in inconsistency in design, quality of fabrication, and illumination across the chain.

Visibility and readability are critical to the retailer for two reasons.  First, many of their locations had significant setback from the primary roadway, and second, their storefront building materials vary greatly depending on location.  Their signs needed to be large enough and have high contrast against the façade to ensure customers could easily see and read the sign while travelling along the roadway.

Consistency and quality of lighting was also an issue for the retailer, specifically as it related to the pylon sign design.  Their pill shaped logo inside a rectangular sign cabinet resulted in an excessive amount of white space that, when lit, overpowered the Orscheln logo.

The Orscheln visual merchandising department, led by Amanda Scott and Ron Volske, knew it was time for an upgrade.

Results

A cross-functional team from Egan Sign, including project management, graphic design, engineering, strategic sourcing, and account management, met to determine the best way to address the issues the retailer was facing with their signage.  They used their combined years of sign industry knowledge and experience to present the Orscheln team with several options that addressed issues the company was facing. The options were presented to several Orscheln team members at their corporate offices in Moberly, Missouri, where the group discussed how the new designs would improve the effectiveness of signage across their new and remodeled locations.

The most effective design package reversed the logo colors to achieve maximum illumination of the Orscheln logo and added a contrasting backer to address the various building materials and ensure visibility and readability.  To address the white space on the Pylon Sign, Egan Sign recommended using a blockout vinyl on the second surface of the flex face.  This allowed for illumination of strictly logo area and eliminated the overwhelming amount of white light.

Before the initial redesigned Orscheln signs were rolled into production, Egan Sign provided a prototype of each unique sign design to confirm color match and quality of product, and at the same time, obtained final approval from the entire team.  Since that time, Egan Sign developed the Orscheln Design Control Document which outlines approved sign types, materials, colors, sizes, and manufacturing methods and serves to ensure consistency as they move forward with the new design package.

The project with Orscheln began in February 2017, and Egan Sign subsequently rolled out the new signage design package to eight of their locations within six months from the initial design presentation.  As the company continues to grow in number and geography, Egan Sign is pleased to partner with Orscheln for all their ongoing signage needs.

Customers Bank

The Challenge

Dick Ehst’s problem was simple: His bank, New Century Bank, shared the exact same name as two other banks—both of which found themselves in deep financial, legal and public relations trouble.

From a branding standpoint, it was a disaster. Customers saw “New Century Bank” on the news and, quite understandably, thought Ehst’s bank was the one in peril—when, in actuality, it was doing quite well. Ehst knew he needed to make a change, and fast. That’s why, in short order, New Century Bank became Customers Bank.

Dick Ehst reports, “Given the situation we found ourselves in, these signs needed to be replaced in a very, very short period of time. In that time period, we are talking about completing the design, construction, acceptance by the local municipalities, and then of course building and installing them.”

Results

Ehst chose Egan Sign to rebrand all the bank locations with new signage for Customers Bank, quickly and accurately.

It is rare to have a vendor respond not only with the speed with which Egan Sign responded, but also with the accuracy and extraordinary attention to detail that they showed throughout the process. It’s kind of a magical convergence of competence and speed. But that’s why you hire pros. You hire pros to make a tough job look easy. In this case, Egan Sign made a tough job look easy.

Dick Ehst, Then-President of Customers Bank

PeopleReady

The Challenge

TrueBlue had a total of 650 locations that needed to transition to the new PeopleReady brand name. At that time, all existing signage needed to be removed and replaced as quickly as possible.

Results

Egan Sign was selected to manage TrueBlue’s interior and exterior signage rebrand of their four workforce solution brands by March 2017. Instead of the TrueBlue property management team coordinating site surveys, landlord approval, code research, and permitting for each of the 650 locations, Egan Sign served as their single sign management vendor, coordinating all sign-related activities on their behalf.

To reduce the overall timeframe to complete this extensive rebrand process, Egan Sign developed a Design Control Document for TrueBlue, which addressed the variety of sign types and sizes that would be required across the portfolio of locations. TrueBlue’s sign library consisted of channel letters, pylon signs, cabinet signs, pan signs, wall signs, door vinyl, and interior reception signage. This document streamlined the layout and revision process, and assisted in establishing realistic budget expectations for each project. Because each location’s needs were unique, Egan Sign recommended the pre-approved type and size of signage that was most effective for the site based on the client’s brand guidelines and the site-specific research performed.

All in all, Egan Sign permitted, manufactured, and installed over 3,000 PeopleReady signs in approximately ten months.

Egan Sign is not only the best sign vendor we’ve worked with, they are the best vendor we’ve worked with.  We wish all of our vendors would be as professional and responsive as Egan Sign has been.

TrueBlue, Inc. Property Manager

Mid Penn Bank

The Challenge

Mid Penn Bank acquired First Priority Bank’s locations back in August of 2018. Egan Sign was approached at that time by Chris Zampogna, Mid Penn Bank Vice President Security and Facilities Officer, with the intent of not interrupting the day-to-day banking operations—by rebranding the first eight locations in just two business days! It was clear that our team was going to have to work swiftly without sacrificing our usual precision.

Results

Egan successfully rebranded the initial eight unique branch locations throughout Berks, Bucks, Chester, and Montgomery counties in the allotted two business days, so that bank business as usual was not disrupted.

Our cross-functional team at Egan Sign—including project management, graphic design, sourcing, and account management—met right away after Mr. Zampogna issued the challenge to determine the most effective way to strategically rebrand all eight Mid Penn Bank locations in the time frame given. We knew that we could meet the client’s needs, but it would take an “all in” attitude from everyone involved.

Mid Penn Bank was thrilled with the outcome of this initial project, in which the Egan Sign team again demonstrated the efficiency and due diligence we’re known for in the sign management industry. This has led to an ongoing partnership between Mid Penn Bank and Egan that has included more than 30 projects—and counting—for this excellent client. Egan has also helped develop the interior and exterior rebrand strategy for all Mid Penn Bank locations.

Our President, Bob Egan, had this to say about our successful partnership: “Mid Penn Bank has endorsed Egan Sign and our people, and we are most grateful for that. However, for any sign program to work flawlessly, it takes a customer/partner who is willing to work hand in hand with us. Mid Penn Bank’s people are equally responsible for the highly successful sign program we all enjoy today.”

In addition to Chris Zampogna, Mid Penn Bank Vice President Security and Facilities Officer, we would also like to thank Brittany Zolko, Assistant Vice President/Director of Marketing & Public Relations at Mid Penn Bank, for their continued collaboration.

We first engaged with Egan when Mid Penn Bank acquired First Priority Bank, based in southeastern Pennsylvania, in 2018. With eight unique branch locations throughout Berks, Bucks, Chester and Montgomery counties, we worked closely with Egan to develop the interior and exterior rebrand strategy for all locations. We knew from the beginning that great attention to detail and a well-coordinated timeline would be necessary to bring the rebrand to life.

The communication between the Egan and Mid Penn Bank teams was fantastic during the entire process. We collaborated when unique challenges were posed by some of the locations. Additionally, Egan was prepared to handle any last-minute changes that surfaced. Beyond the First Priority rebrand, we have worked with Egan on completing interior and exterior signage for new branches we’ve opened in Central Pennsylvania over the past year, including our Jonestown Road office in Harrisburg and our Pillow office in Upper Dauphin County. We also worked together on the rebrand of our Miners Bank branches in Schuylkill and Luzerne counties to reflect the Mid Penn Bank name and upgraded signage at several existing locations throughout our footprint to enhance the look and visibility of the facilities.

We know we can always count on Egan to execute our vision and complete projects quickly and efficiently.

Chris Zampogna, Mid Penn Bank Vice President Security and Facilities Officer
