Our History
The origin of Egan Sign is deeply rooted in the picturesque landscapes of Nantucket, Massachusetts. It was here that our founder, Bob Egan, honed his craft during his college breaks, working diligently at his father’s millwork business. He mastered the art of creating and installing wooden quarterboard signs, a traditional craft used to display the names of whaling ships.
In the late ’80s, Bob’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish the Nantucket Quarterboard Sign Company, which later evolved into the Egan Sign we know today. Bob’s unwavering commitment and astute instincts were the driving force behind the growth and success of the business.
One of Bob’s most impactful decisions was to embrace technology in the early ’90s, a time when computers were becoming increasingly accessible. This strategic move positioned Egan Sign as a pioneer in leveraging technology across all facets of the business, from managing sign projects and facilitating remote communication to operating a paperless office.
